Can you hear it?
I'm talking about the "Mosquito" ringtone that's causing such a buzz lately. I finally found an article that includes an mp3 of the darn thing, and I'm proud to say I can hear it. I haven't been a teenager in about a decade, and I've probably done a good bit of damage to the old eardrums with all the loud concerts and guns I've shot in my lifetime, but the squeaky, metallic drone is audible to me. I'm not sure if the sound's original purpose as a teenager repellant would work very well, although at extended durations, just about anything could be annoying enough to accomplish that end.

Take time to stop and listen to to oddly synched music
I started a playlist on my iTunes and on my iPod dock, for full-house sound. I walk into the bedroom from the shower and find myself in the middle of a time-warped stereo field of Bebel Gilberto. The phrases fit, about eight and a quarter bars apart, as Aganju quadrophonically swirled from the front to the back of my shotgun during the extended chorus/outro of the remix. Nice.
EPMD, didn't quite work as well.

Relive it
The Times-Pic has put together an amazing bit of flash animation to allow us to relive the submersion of our Crescent City. They should really do more of these kind of things, certainly now they have a Pulitzer on the mantel. Link to nifty animation.
Flickr goes gamma
I'm not sure what it means just yet, but the gamma is here. Looks like more organizational goodies and better ways to use your contacts.

n.o. l e v i t y
begins with Jazzfest, and if Chris Rose can spell it with one word, then I'm going to go back to spelling it that way.
n.o. l e v i t y is the new blog. Not to take the place of this one, but to more or less replace One Over One Hundred, for obvious reasons.

Sighting ghost
I was just out back and I saw a vague shape quickly glide across the wall of the shed at the back of my yard. and onto the roof of a shorter shed. It made a bit of a whoosh, and although it gave me the chills when I heard it in an otherwise very still New Orleans night, it made no sound of landing on the creaky corrugated shed roof. I started to believe I had seen the ghost of a cat lost in the storm, still chasing around its own neighborhood with the enhanced agility of the afterlife.
It turned out to be some sort of large duck, maybe a small pelican, as it flew away when I finally stood to go inside.
A neighborhood cat, a shaggy, white one was lurking to the other side of the shedtops.

Superfly
Tickets for Superfly During Jazzfest 2006 go on sale in about 45 minutes, so don't sleep suckas. I'm trying to snag 'em to Garage A Medeski on the riverboat, Umphree's McGee, Mule plus Galactic at the CAC and George and P-Funk at the Republic, which is a new neighbor to the Howlin' Wolf, and it looks like quite a snazzy little joint from the website.
Update:
I scored the lot... see you there.
In other news, Saddle Creek's Two Gallants has made it down south to the Republic. I'll see you there April 14th.

Moby's knob
I point you to this site, another find on Miss Trent's blog where there may or may not be a full-frontal shot of the pop superstar.
Princess Superstar's new album is dope, you'll see my review after clicking the pic, and I hope she had a nice birthday party... it sure looks like it.
